Tooth hypersensitivity
Tooth hypersensitivity is caused by exposed dentinal tubules that might irritate the dentin when in contact with hot, cold or acidic drinks/foods. If you suffer from hypersensitivity, we recommend that you visit your dentist who will diagnose the cause, and prescribe the necessary treatment. As a temporary measure, we recommend that you use toothpastes that reduce sensitivity to pain (e.g. Sensodyne, Colgate Pro-relif).
Bad breath
Bad breath is caused by inadequate oral hygiene. Gum pockets accumulate bacteria that secrete volatile sulphur compounds, which are the reason for the unpleasant smell. If this is the case, we recommend that you arrange a check-up visit with your dentist and undergo a professional oral hygiene procedure to which you may be referred by your doctor. It is also worth increasing the daily oral hygiene by using bactericidal toothpastes and mouthwashes (e.g. Oral-B Professional, Elgydium, Eludril).
Dry mouth
Dry mouth (also known as xerostomia) is associated with reduced salivary secretion by the salivary glands. This may be caused by inadequate hydration, smoking, certain medications, poor diet and stress. Do not underestimate xerostomia, as it may lead to many serious diseases, and promote the development of caries, aphthae and ulcers. If you suffer from dry mouth, make an appointment to see your dentist for a check-up. Meanwhile, we recommend that you drink 2.5–3 litres of water a day, and avoid stimulants.

If there is nothing worrying going on, but you are not sure how long you have been wearing the temporary dressing, arrange a telemedical consultation with a dentist. During the consultation, your doctor will examine your chart and test results (if you are an enel-med patient). All patients with ongoing root-canal treatments are advised not to bite hard foods using the area of the oral cavity that is being treated.
